Big K firewood logs are not seasoned as long as our seasoned logs, which means that their moisture content is not guaranteed to be below 40%. They are suitable for burning on stoves and open fireplaces and are cheaper per bag than our seasoned hardwood logs.
Our firewood logs come in nets and typically contain softwoods such as fir, pine and spruce. Hardwood logs are higher density and burn slower than softwood logs and provide a more consistent heat. The softwoods are lower density, burn faster and provide a faster heat output. Both types give the same calorific value although you will need twice the amount of softwood as hardwood, making them less efficient. Softwoods tend to be easy to light and burn quickly (making them very good kindling).
